Dearest Lord, Teach Me to be Generous

DEAREST LORD, teach me to be generous. Teach me to serve Thee as Thou deservest; to give, and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to seek reward, save that of knowing that I do Thy Will, O Lord. Amen

On this day of Jesus' birth, I'd like to share the following -

Consecration to the Child Jesus

Blessed Infant Jesus, kindly take us under Thy special protection.  We promise to try to avoid displeasing Thee, and humbly ask Thee to bless us, and teach us to practice obedience, patience, and humility, the great virtues of Thy hidden life.  Grant us to love Thee daily more and more, that, by so doing, we may merit to reign with Thee forever in Heaven.  Amen.

Thursday, August 15 ~  Today we celebrate one of the greatest of all the Marian feasts and a holy day of obligation, the feast of the Assumption.  Sharing with you a favorite prayer that I found in the book: SPECIAL DEVOTIONS compiled for Children of the Sacred Heart - Revised Edition 1956

  

Feast, August 15th

Sovereign Ruler of Heaven and earth, Who didst subvert the laws of nature, in becoming the Son of the ever blessed Virgin Mary, we adore Thy infinite power, wisdom, and bounty. We return Thee thanks for having preserved the soul of Mary from original and actual sin; for having enriched her with Thy gifts, and preserved her virginal body from the corruption of the tomb.  Forever blessed be the moment  which Thou wert pleased to reunite her most pure body to her happy soul, and receive them into immortal glory!

O compassionate Mother, be our advocate with the Adorable Trinity. Behold our combats, obtain for us the conquest of our enemies, grace to avoid sin, hearts detached from earthly affections, and the possession of a blessed eternity. Amen.

O LADY, QUEEN of Heaven, My Mother Mary, I offer thee my memory and my imagination, begging of thee by thine Immaculate Conception, that I may never let them dwell but on things pleasing to thee!

O Lady, Queen of Heaven, my Mother Mary, I offer thee my mind and understanding, begging of thee by thine Immaculate Conception, that I may judge and esteem all things according as they are pleasing to thee!

O Lady, Queen of Heaven, my Mother Mary, I offer thee my heart and will, begging of thee by thine Immaculate Conception, that I may choose and love only those things that are pleasing to thee!

O Mary, by thy love for Jesus and for me, I beg but one more grace of thee: never to let pass an opportunity of serving thee, and to persevere in fervor until death.  Amen
